Claus Von Stauffenberg is best-known for the failed attempt on Adolf Hitler’s life as part of Operation Valkyrie, a plan that, had it been successful, would have resulted in the arrests of the German leadership and led to an earlier end to WWII. The explosive that Stauffenberg placed at the Wolf’s Lair on 20 July 1944 only caused Hitler to sustain minor injuries, however, and he and his co-conspirators were arrested, with most, including Stauffenberg, executed the next day.

Our miniature depicts Stauffenberg prior to the failed assassination attempt, and before he sustained his life-changing injuries. In November 1943, Stauffenberg was an Oberstleutnant in the 10th Panzer Division as Operations Officer in the General Staff, operating in Tunisia. It was here, on 7 April whilst, that he sustained severe injuries as the result of a strafing attack from Desert Air Force fighter bombers, resulting in the loss of his left eye, right hand, and two fingers of his left hand. Our model is not so afflicted, and depicts von Stauffenberg in a dynamic pose brandishing a pistol. He makes for a superb alternative to represent an Afrika Korps Platoon Commander.

Von Stauffenberg has secretive things to attend to, so this model is only available for the month of November 2025. Thereafter, it will not return for at least two years. Don’t miss out on adding him to your collection.
